Choosing a Small Bag for a Camera or Tablet: A Device Carry Checklist

Choose a camera or tablet bag around the exact protected device and its accessories, not the screen size or a litre label. The device must enter through the usable opening, sit without pressure on vulnerable parts, and come out without scattering your other belongings. A padded camera sling or a larger bag may be the better choice when a slim essentials bag lacks documented clearance or protection.

This checklist is a buying method. We have not tested the devices below inside a Norevix bag or performed drop, rain or impact tests.

Identify the exact device before comparing bags

Record the manufacturer, model and generation. “Mini tablet” and “compact camera” cover different physical shapes. For a tablet, the advertised screen diagonal does not tell you the body's height, width or thickness.

Manufacturer example Published physical size What still needs measuring
Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro) 195.4 × 134.8 × 6.3 mm, height × width × depth. Your cover, keyboard case, attached pencil and any protective sleeve.
Sony DSC-RX100M7 Approximately 101.6 × 58.1 × 42.8 mm, width × height × depth. Your camera pouch, grip, strap arrangement and accessories.

Manufacturer pages checked: 2026-09-30. These examples show why all three dimensions matter; neither is a confirmed loadout for any bag in this article. Use the specifications for your own exact model, then measure it in the configuration you carry.

Add protection before checking capacity

Decide whether you need a separate sleeve, a padded compartment or adjustable dividers. Padding takes up room. Inspect how the device would be separated from keys, loose accessories and the zipper path. Ask whether a tablet sleeve stops above the bag's base and whether the manufacturer explains the protection it provides. A pocket called a “tablet compartment” does not by itself establish a drop rating.

For an interchangeable-lens camera, record the body with the lens you intend to leave attached, including the hood position and protruding grip. Make a second list if you plan to carry another lens. A photo showing a bare camera body cannot prove that your ready-to-shoot combination fits.

Ask for the opening and the usable compartment

Request the clear opening width and usable interior measurements with the intended dividers or sleeve installed. Ask for an example showing the exact device entering and the loaded zipper closing. Outside dimensions are useful for screening a shortlist, but seams, curved corners and compartment walls reduce what you can use.

A device might sit inside yet be awkward to insert through a narrow mouth. It might also occupy the space needed for your phone and wallet. Do not count the same compartment twice when planning the whole load.

Rehearse a real retrieval, not just storage

  1. Pack the protected device, the accessories you need, and your normal essentials together.
  2. Close the zipper normally. Stop if closure presses on the tablet, lens or controls.
  3. Wear the packed bag and retrieve the device while standing still somewhere suitable.
  4. Check that another item cannot easily fall out and that the strap does not obstruct the opening.
  5. Return the device and close the bag. Repeat with a jacket if that is how you will use it.

If this routine requires removing several loose items each time, compare a wider opening, separate device compartment or larger format. For rainy trips, check the finished bag's stated protection and any rain cover; a fabric water-resistance claim alone is not an electronics protection test.

What is verified for Norevix?

The Norevix Crossbody Bag 2.0 listing publishes Regular at 19 × 13.5 × 2 cm externally and Large at 22 × 15 × 3 cm. It does not establish padded device clearance, usable opening dimensions or a closed loadout with these camera or tablet examples. We therefore cannot recommend either size for these devices from the published measurements alone.
